The effects of Multifunction cavitation on rotating bending fatigue properties of AISI4140 steel were examined.
1. High compressive residual stress was generated on the surface by MFC, which increase the fatigue limit.
2. Pits were observed on the fracture surface of the low and medium strength steel with MFC, and inclusions were observed on the fracture surface of the high strength steel.
3. Fatigue properties of MFC materials can be evaluated by considering residual stress relaxation and stress concentration in the pit.
